　　Personal Statement-Lily ZHANG

　　I have been working for China OTS Elevator Co., Ltd  since graduating from university six years ago. I have held three different positions in the Field Operation Division. As a result of this mobility, I have been exposed to several different areas of the refinery and have acquired a broad business background.

　　The first one and half years of my career, I focused on direct sales and business developing skills. My sales experience taught me how to identify the real request from customers and how to achieve customer satisfaction efficiently.

　　Next, I was assigned to the position of project manager in charge of pre-sales and tenders of key projects in north of China. The more than 3 years experiences provided me the opportunities to work with intelligent team-member with various backgrounds, and I learned much from them. In this job, because frequently faced with the challenge of managing a team with cross-departments staffs who didn’t report to me, I had the chances to develop the skill of team work and drive the whole team to work toward our goals.

　　My fifth year at OTS, I was moved from Beijing to Shanghai and started my work as an assistant to representative of OTS Switzerland. During this period, I learn to work in a more international environment. Our office is responsible for the sales of imported material in China and solving any problems caused in the imported material. In this position, besides extending my communication skill, I got involved in identifying the root causes of problems and develop permanent solutions to them.

　　Looking through my 6 years working experience, I also remember very clearly about many nervous, awkward situations and failures due to lack of experiences at the beginning of my career. But today, when I look in the mirror, I marvel at the changes, I see before me a mature, self-confidence and recognized business lady. It’s also the 6 years working experience helps me to refine my thought about my career.

　　My deepest desire is to run my own consulting firm, focused on the small and medium Chinese companies, specialized in advising and guide them to face the competitions from international companies and to extend international market. I’m greatly impressed by such company as “ Meigrat international”, a consulting company. When I first began to work as a sales person, a lot of obstacles and difficulties stood in front of me, the “Meigrat international” as a teacher gave me lot of helps.

　　To achieve my long-term objective, upon my graduation with an MBA degree, I would like to pick up a job with a successful consulting company, at such a company, I can practice what I will have learned in the business school. And more importantly, I will gain first hand knowledge of how a consulting company is operated.

　　Now, I firmly believe I have enough preparation to pursue my further education and an MBA is the next logical step in my career in order to fulfill my goals.

　　First of all, an MBA program will allow me to enhance and refine my knowledge of general management, while having the chance to improve my business decision-making abilities in a complex environment. Moreover, all of my experience has been in one manufactured company and in the field of sales and sales supporting. I am seeking an MBA to supplement my work experience and gain high intensity exposure to the other business functions such as marketing, finance, operations management and human resources which are important to running a successful business and in which I have little experience. And at the same time, I look at an MBA program as a chance to learn not only through the curriculum which we will do, but also the opportunity to meet their wide variety of backgrounds, mentalities, multicultural experiences of the faculty and students.

　　Finally, from my perspective, if you would like to consider my application and value my qualification and working experience, then it is my responsibility to contribute as much as I can to the school and to the program.
