　　金融工程Financial Engineering-这个专业是金融学与数学、统计、工程等专业的交叉学科，大多数的英国大学都有金融数学或金融工程专业。这个专业需要学生有很强的数学背景，用于研究数学模型，目前国内大量金融衍生品的开发就主要是金融工程的作用。

　　在很多大学金融工程有着不同的名称：Financial Engineering，Financial Mathematics，Mathematical Finance，Computational Finance，然而无论是叫金融工程，金融数学，数学金融还是计算金融，它们的实质都是一样的——it represents the emerging discipline wherein mathematical tools are used to model financial markets and solve problems in finance，即以数学工具来建立金融市场模型和解决金融问题的新兴学科。
